Monday January 6th

The Peterborough Pete's will be at the Manvers arena from 5pm-7pm (details are below). The Manvers Skating Club will have the ice from 7pm-8pm.  We are able to offer the regular CanSkate lesson during this time if there are Monday night skaters interested in coming for the revised time.  If you are planning on coming from 7pm-8pm, please advise so that we can plan the lesson accordingly.

Thursday night skating resumes on Thursday January 9th at 5:30pm.
Regular Monday night skating resumes on Monday January 13th.  CanSkate skaters begin at 5pm and the Learn to Skate skaters (that have registered for the 2nd session) begin at 5:10pm. 

If your skater was in the Learn to Skate program and you want them to return for a second session, please contact us as soon as possible to register him/her.

Peterborough Pete's are coming to the Manvers Arena on Monday January 6th!!!!

They will have an open viewing practice from 5pm-6pm and then the public is welcome to join them for an open skate from 6pm-7pm.  The cost to participate is only $5, so if you can, please join in this great community experience!!  The following Saturday (January 11th) you can see some hockey teams from Manvers play during the intermission at the Pete's game and before the game.  The tickets are being sold at a discounted rate ($16) and it is a fundraising event.  Tickets can be purchased on line or at the box office.  Please be sure to use the promotional code: Manvers.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

Peterborough Pete's are coming to Manvers Arena!!!!!

The Manvers Skating Club has been asked by Manvers Hockey if we would be interested in joining efforts for a great community fundraising event. 

Our clubs will be hosting a night of fun with the players of the Peterborough Pete's!!!  The Pete's will be coming to Manvers for a 1 hour open viewing practice and then the ice will be open for skating and an autograph session.  In addition, the following Saturday we will have discounted tickets to attend the Pete's game, where you will see the players of Manvers hockey compete during the intermission and before the game!!!  This is a really exciting event for all skaters and an opportunity for us to work jointly with the Manvers Minor Hockey club.

This event will take place on Monday January 6th, 2014. 

The practice is from 5pm-6pm and the public skate is from 6pm-7pm.

There will be additional details coming later this week so you can be sure not to miss this exciting event!!!

Attention Monday Night Skaters - CanSkate 2 and above:

 

The Manvers Skating Club would normally have skating on this night from 5pm-8pm.  In order to support this exciting event we have agreed that our ice time from 5pm-7pm can be used for this fundraiser.  Given our fundraising goal for this year, the Board felt that this was a good opportunity to raise funding for the club, and more importantly it is a great event for the community.

On this night, Manvers Skating Club will have the ice from 7pm-8pm.  During this time slot, for this night only, we will be offering the CanSkate program and senior skaters will also be able to skate during this time.  In order to plan the program for this evening we will be asking parents to confirm their child's attendance for this night.  Hopefully this advanced notice allows you enough time to make arrangements to skate at this revised time.  We hope that you agree that this is a good opportunity for our club and an exciting event for the community.

Please note that the Learn to Skate program will begin as scheduled on Monday January 13th, as such this time change does not impact them.

Vandemeer's Fundraiser

Vandermeer's Christmas Plant Fundraiser

Our Christmas Plant Fundraiser is here again! It will soon be time to decorate your home and office for this festive season! Vandermeers has a wonderful selection of poinsettas and cyclamens to choose from. They also have potted arrangements which make great gifts and door swag for decorating. We will be handing out your sales package the first week of November. Order forms and money will be collected THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21 and MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25. The orders will be delivered to the arena on Monday, December 2. We will need the orders to be picked up that night so if Thursday night families could arrange to do so we would greatly appreciate it!!

IT'S TIME TO THINK SKATING....

The summer has gone by so quickly and the Board has been very busy planning for the 2013-2014 Skating Season!!

Registration will be held at the Manvers Arena on Monday September 9th and Thursday September 12th from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

Our Skate Canada Certified coaches teach to youth age 3, and up to levels in StarSkate.  Our Learn To Skate program is great preparation for those budding hockey or ringette players!!!

We are pleased to be offering two skating nights again this year: Mondays (start time is 5pm) and Thursdays (start time is 5:30pm).  Skating begins on Monday September 23rd.

What's New for 2013:

- We are offering a new Rising Star program for skaters looking to further develop their skating competition skills.  This programs is a great opportunity for CanSkate 5 skaters and offers extra ice time and additional coaching at a fantastic price.

Coaching News....

- We are pleased to announce that Lynn Cochrane and Michelle Davidson will be returning to our club and will be coaching on Monday's this year.  Welcome back Lynn and Michelle!!!!

- We are welcoming a new Club Pro on Thursday nights....  We are pleased to have Judy Bates returning to our skating club.  Judy has been a freelance coach for several years in the Peterborough and surrounding area, as well as acting as CanSkate Coordinator over 12 yrs. Her coaching philosophy has always focused on Fun, Fitness and Achievement for her skaters and she thoroughly enjoys working with children and youth of all ages.  Welcome back Judy!

Hi there, well another successful season has passed and we are now on a break until registration in September 2013.

This usually takes place mid September at the Manvers arena. We will be updating the Blog with prices and other details later in the Summer.

Our new Board is getting together shortly and we will be setting dates for Registration and skating. We will have a new publicity person so there will be some changes to the blog as well. If you have any questions look thru the blog and call me for now but you should be able to comment and the new person can respond. Gayle and I are working our way out of the Board so if possible call someone else.

Also our prices and night details are posted in previous notes and since they are unlikely to change the information is pretty current and accurate.

Skate Canada Fee of $ 35.00 is a mandatory insurance cost that will be added to each skater’s registration.

There is a fundraising fee of $ 60.00 payable when you register. You will be given a box of chocolate bars to sell to recoup this fee.

GEARING UP FOR A NEW SEASON 2011/2012

We are getting ready for a new season.

 Our registration dates are September 12th & 15th .

We hold registration at the Manvers Arena between about 5:30 and 730pm. Flyers will go up around the area and we hope to have Members at the Granview/Rolling Hills BBQ greeting night.
For now check our last seasons prices, I can't say for sure but I expect there won't be any significant changes in pricing. We will still be doing fundraising such a Chocolate bars and likely Spaghetti dinner, plant sale & a couple of other events. We did not do BBQ s this summer.
Skating will start September 26th.
